Bamburgh

This is a classic 1925 Russell Flint painting for the LNER of this magnificent Castle. It is built on a basalt outcrop of rock and numerous fortifications have stood there since 540 AD. After periods of decay and rebuilding, the Victorian industrialist William Armstrong bought and fully restored it.
