Blackpool’s New Promenades

This is an LMS commission from about 1930 portraying the social scene on a sunny summer’s evening .

The artist is primarily known for his science fiction art illustrations and he was not commissioned to produce many British railway posters .

He has however managed here to capture the moment, and any connection between science fiction and the weather in Blackpool is purely coincidental !

Painted by the American Artist Chesley Bonstell( 1888- 1986 )

The outside dimensions of these posters are 70cm x 50cm ( 27.6 inches x 19.7 inches ), designed to fit a standard IKEA frame.
