Bournemouth
Britain’s All- Seasons Resort
Bournemouth ,” the Queen of Resorts” was developed by the Victorians , not least because an influential physician , Dr Granville , recommended the curative properties of the area’s mild southern climate. By 1840 a marina , and large swaithes of Pine Trees gradually turned open heathland into a premier resort . This is a fine 1950’s BR poster of the environs .
Artwork by Sir Herbert Alker Tripp ( 1883 – 1954 )
