Cornwall
Polperro Harbour
British Railways followed on from GWR in recognising the merits of this village to portray the splendours of Cornwall and in 1954 this poster was issued to tempt them there – even though it is not served directly by rail ! . The narrowness of the streets largely prevents cars from entering thus preserving the “old world “ feeling that the village still retains . Visitors arriving by car must use the main car park and walk the half mile or so down through the village to the harbour, but it is well worth it .
The colouring in this image is absolutely superb and reflects warm sunny days in that part of the world .
