Harrogate
This is a fabulously evocative late 1920's poster of the interior of the Royal Hall Theatre Harrogate.
It is a magnificent Edwardian theatre which was built in 1903. Originally it was called Kursaal , but after WW1 the name was changed to reflect the mood of patriotism that swept the country. Kursaal in German means literally “ Cure Hall”, but has come to mean a hall for grand or special occasions . Major refurbishments over the years have maintained the character of this great theatre.
