The Pier
Hastings was one of the Cinque Ports and was an important trading place even before William landed in1066 . By 1750 , the town had developed into a
‘Watering Place ‘ for peace and relaxation and with the coming of the railways , it was transformed into a seaside resort . This poster shows the pier and its environs and was produced for British Rail in 1959
