Hastings
The Pool
This is an absolutely classic poster commissioned by LMS in 1934 showing the famous open air , Olympic sized pool built in the town in 1933 . From the air it resembled and amphitheatre with curved stepped terracing for spectators on one side and a curved deck for sunbathing on the other . Sadly , it was not as successful as the poster indicates and it was demolished in the 1980’s
Artwork by Gerald Spencer Pryse ( 1881 – 1957 )
