Herefordshire is one of the most sparsely populated counties of England and this poster gives an instant impression of this most rural and agricultural landscape. This poster was commissioned by British Railways in 1960 and must be one of the very last paintings to be commissioned before the introduction , and then dominance of photography into Railway Advertising .
