LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL
The Cathedral is dedicated to St Chad and St Mary and is built from sandstone from a nearby quarry . The gothic structure took 140 years to build and the oldest section was commenced in around 1200 AD . The nave was begun around 1260 and these two parts are not exactly aligned . In addition , some of the main walls lean outwards owing to the huge weight of stone.
