Whitehall from St James’s Park
St James’s Park is the oldest of the Royal Parks and is enclosed by Horse Guards to the east, Buckingham Palace to the west , and St James’s Palace to the north . In the 1530’s this was all marshland, owned by Eton College. Henry V111 purchased the land and King James 1 had the whole area drained and landscaped.
