This magnificent GWR poster from 1936 shows the immense size of the Castle.

The beautiful colouring is unusual in its choice of yellow for the sky and it’s reflection in the river , but is highly effective , very evocative and deliberately eye catching - which , of course , is exactly what it was intended to do !
