Hadrian's Wall - Northumberland
In Roman times , this was , for a period , the northern extremity of the Empire .
Building began in AD122 and what is truly amazing is that so much of it remains intact to this day . What is perhaps even more remarkable is that the majority of it was built within a 10 year period and that it is the the original concrete which is still holding it together today . The poster was issued in 1930 by LNER .
