Because of the Naval Facilities there, Plymouth received a battering from the Luftwaffe during World War 2.

This BR Poster from the mid 1950’s promotes Plymouth, after it’s rebuilding , as a delightful centre for Holidays, with the Hoe Lido thronged with people.
