RIPON – THE OBELISK
This is a poster produced for LNER in 1930 .
It shows the 300 year old obelisk in the centre of the Town Square ,
where the Wakeman performs the nightly ritual of blowing the horn to tell everybody that the Wakeman is on duty and that they can sleep safely
whilst he is on watch.
