Saltburn

This is a 1930’s LNER Poster for Saltburn.

It was issued at the time when this area was classed as part of North Yorkshire although it is now counted as Teesside .

This resort was the concept of Henry Pease, and in 1861 the railway station opened as the private platform of the Zetland Hotel. A purpose built shelter protected guests from any inclement weather as they stepped briefly between railway and Hotel . He came from the Darlington Pease family who also founded the Stockton and Darlington Railway
