Paul Jones -Fight off Scarborough
This is a historic 1920’s LNER Poster uniquely portraying a Scot ( John Paul Jones ) fighting for the Americans , and beating the English in a battle off Yorkshire’s (Scarborough ) Coast on 23 rd September 1779. Although the caption reads “ off Scarborough “ the battle actually took place off Flamborough Head ( south of Scarborough and just north of Bridlington )
