Scarborough
The Heated Seawater Pool
This mid 1930’s LNER Poster shows the, now sadly demolished Heated Seawater Pool in Scarborough’s North Bay.
The Complex was a wonderful example of the philosophy of healthy urban living that existed during the inter war years. It does not bare thinking about how much it must have cost to heat such a huge volume of water, but as an alternative to swimming in the bracing north sea , it must have seemed a God send and worth every penny !
