Southport – The Pool
This is another outstandingly evocative poster from about 1925 of The Lido at Southport. it was built in 1914 .
The artist loved painting stylish women and once again , as in his poster of the Garrick theatre , the bather in the forefront of the poster is allegedly , his mistress. This Lido was immensely popular in its day and the poster shows the colour and life that were there at that time .
Artwork by Fortunino Chevalier Matania ( 1881- 1963 )
