Teesdale
Near Barnard Castle
This is a 1935 commission by Cecil Dandridge for LNER , of beautiful Teesdale .
The artist has chosen a dark portion of the Tees gorge but the sombreness has been lightened by the vibrant green of the moss , and he has allowed shafts of sunlight to highlight the sinuousness of the river . The location ( near Barnard Castle ) is probably near East Holme .
