Torquay Harbour

This is a 1947 GWR poster promoting rail travel to Devon and shows a view of central Torquay and its inner harbour.

The location has the artist on Vane hill looking toward the Warren road Viewpoint.

In the foreground is the Pavillion Theatre complex which opened in 1912 . It was scheduled for demolition in the early 1970’s but a local campaign stopped this and it became a Grade 2 listed building in 1973.

Artwork by Leonard Richmond

Code number 62114
