Torquay – Palm Trees

Torquay , Queen of the Devon Riviera is portrayed here in a classic GWR poster from 1938.

The mild climate of Torbay allows Mediterranean – type plants to grow, and the Railway Companies exploited this to persuade customers to travel here.

The artist places a Palm Tree as the focus with the hills of Torquay in the background , almost reminiscent of the Italian Lakes.

Artwork by Frank Newbould ( 1887 – 1950 )

Code number 63258

The outside dimensions of these posters are 70cm x 50cm ( 27.6 inches x 19.7 inches ), designed to fit a standard IKEA frame.
