This is an iconic LNER poster for Tynemouth in what is now Tyne and Wear, but was then Northumberland .

The 1926 elegance of this resort is highlighted by the classy clothing, but as anyone who has swum in that outdoor unheated seawater pool knows , tourists in those days must have been of hardy stock indeed !
