Tintern Abbey
The Cistercian Abbey , the second such building in Britain , and the first in Wales , was founded in 1131 by the Lord of Chepstow , Walter de Clare.
The 13 th century Abbey was built in the Decorated Gothic Style and was consecrated in 1288. Overall it is 245 ft long with 110 ft transepts.
It’s decline started when Henry 8 th dissolved the monasteries and took anything of worth from them .
