Whalley Abbey

Established in 1296 , Whalley near Blackburn was one of the great Cistercian Abbeys of Lancashire . Many of the buildings were destroyed after its dissolution in 1536, but some things remain which are of great interest . It is now in the care of the Diocese of Blackburn.
