Whitley Bay
Seafront and Dome
This is a classic circa 1927 LNER poster for Whitley Bay.
Those who know the North East Coast will admire the bravery of the souls walking along the promenade in their summer finery.
The wind direction shown by the flags on the masts indicates an easterly wind . Artistic Licence indeed ! The famous Dome was the centre piece of Spanish City , so named after the band of Toreadors who performed there . It has recently been restored to its previous magnificence and is ,once again open to the general public .
