Whitley Bay
The Beach
This is a classic 1927 LNER Poster for the Whitley Bay Seaside .
The artist had a long time working relationship with the LNER publicity manager William Teasdale who saw in him the potential to improve the image of an already great railway company . The Artist here uses bold blocks of colour – hallmarks of some great poster art work . Newbould became one of the “ Big Five “. As with so many posters of this era, the couple portrayed are both smoking - considered very fashionable in those days !
Here we are looking south towards Cullercoats and Tynemouth.
